[IGDA_indies] Legal issues with selling game content?

Hi.

I am wondering if someone on the list can point me to some information about
what legal issues are involved in selling game content.

I am not talking about a complete game. I am thinking of a small group of
non-professional guys, that are building selected game content.

When doing contract work in providing models, textures, etc. there must be
some way, to ensure, that
a) the customer has the right to use and distribute the content in it's game
b) the customer cannot sell the bought content on it's own (copyright??)

Another question that might might be interesting for a customer:
How can those guys assure, that they are not selling copyrighted material?
Something they haven't produced on their own.

Is there a way to proof this to a customer? I think otherwise a customer
will not take the risk to find out that his just released game is violating
some copyrights.

Thanks.
