[kj] FW: jaz date change 4 spoken word

How about "Dean Numbskull"? OK, just "Peter the long-winded libertarian" (notice how I spelled libertarian w/a small l, so you won't go into a 5 page explanation of how you don't feel the need to belong to groups, you (and Ann Rand) are both individuals, etc etc

I must admit, being called "dear" is far more touching than numskull knumbskull. (Yeah I know,
I'm beating it into the ground. I'll drop it). I'm getting this mushy feeling inside.

I should get my glasses upgraded but I just don't have the time right now.(You a clairvoyant?)

I was not quick to attack you, I was quick to defend Brendan. Did I miss the LOL? No.
Am I dense? Maybe.

Let's just say that "Stephen Lawrence" has a past history of being quick on the attack and if I recall correctly
you had some choice words for Brendan (and others) a few months ago. Something about a discussion over "metal" or
shit like that.

With that in mind the "lol" just did not come off (to me at least) as quite genuine.
I might be wrong. If I was... my bad. I'll own up to it. Ain't no one perfect.

Regarding your issue with me not responding. Believe it or not, there are times when I have nothing to say.
(Yeah, I know it's rare when it comes to politics and ideology). Being that I've never seen "witness" and not knowing
anything about it, I find it difficult and frankly quite stupid to reply to it. I try not to talk about things that I know nothing off.

Lovingly yours, (one good turn deserves another ehh?)
Exo

I am damn proud to say that I am acquainted with Brendan though we disagree on just about everything.

Over the years on "The Gathering" he has been one of the most consistent, active, and open contributor to this list.

If I would go through the past Email's and copy his statements here you'd be amazed by his insight and witticisms.
I think I'd even be so bold as to say he is probably the wittiest Gatherer on the list and has a way with words that I
only wish I had. (you can spot them by all my lengthy and wordy responses)

Why you had to point out his name is beyond my scope nor is it beneficial to any sort of discussion. If you have
an issue, state it. The last line added nothing other than just trashing someone for stating something you find
wrong/silly/stupid/whatever.

If you would have left that out Brendan's name, he would just as much have responded and try to explain his statement.
I assure you.

Have a good day Stephen.

Why wouldn't they be able to? (See the movie "Witness" if you really think people can't cooperate). You always get a few who don't fit in with anyone else, but as a comrade once said "for the people who want to live in the woods all by themselves, we can figure out something for them too".

And what if one can't work cooperatively?

I read the other day that just over 50% of Americans donate time to volunteer causes, an average of 4.2 hours a week (sounds a little high to me but who knows…most countries are fucked up enough to need all the help they can get). So the idea that ‘humans are inherently selfish,’ that the corrupt will always end up in power…doesn’t hold any water for me. In fact no other species really comes close to us in terms of our altruism and relationships.

People are always willing to parrot plattitudes they've learned from anti-communist teachers, parents, etc., w/o really thinking about them. But in the US there is a nightly segment on nbc news about how, in the tough economy, there is an outpouring of people helping each other, doing things for free, giving more to the less fortunate, etc., w/o looking for any praise or payback. And don't forget that we've never lived in a time when poeple in power are prevented form being corrupt, so how can we know if everyone in power will automatically be corrupt?

I find it interesting when some people term humanity as some form of parasite. Do these people include themselves in the analogy, or not? If yes, do they use the idea as some form of condonation for not giving a sh*t?
There is a trend, particularly in industrial music, to adopt this idea....hell of a way to perpetuate the inert, or do they feel that they are in touch with the zeitgeist?

mankind has and continues to rule to the detriment of others . Any leader showing compassion is usually assassinated.Power corrupts and usually those at the top are moulded and coersed by the host of sychophants and other manipulators who have thier own agenda . No doubt i will be scoffed and jeered at when i say that mankind is incapable of looking after himself and the world will only change for the better when jesus comes to right the wrongs ...remember how they laughed at the people attempting to make flight possible ...i rest my case

and there has to a way to recall leaders when they do try to climb above others...

Like a coup or an asassination? I wish i had your faith, but 99% of the time, those that rise to the top make damn sure they can stay there. You can never stop those that wish to suceed at the expense of others, "feather the nest and fuck the rest" etc. The concept of a council like the Roman senate was supposed to keep things fair and right but ultimately backhanders, coersion and corruption take over, all to satisfy the greedy few, and those Wolves ALWAYS come dressed in Sheeps clothing.

Nah, i think i'l just stick to treating people like i want to be treated myself and hope it eventually rubs off on everyone.

Keep dreaming Jel.

Over and out

That's the key--how to keep people from being top of the pile and ripping others off. The decision-making has to be collectivized and people have to be accountable (the opposite of the US bankers) and there has to a way to recall leaders when they do try to climb above others...

And WHO decides who needs what? There's always someone at the top of the pile. Great in theory, sadly lacking in practice.

Funny, the Progressive Labor Party advocates a future revolutionary society in which we operate without money! (w/communist distribution of goods and services according to need). Maybe Jaz will join!

Presumably Jaz's talk will centre on his upcoming book:

>From Jaz's entry on the wikipedia site (I don't think it's been mentioned here yet, but apols etc).

Coleman is writing a book about permaculture, free energy, freedom and freedom-loving individuals. The main thesis is on how to survive without money. The book will be divided into two parts; one part concentrating on the music and other on the ideas behind it. [10] The book is planned to be published in 2009. [11]
