Exactly right…the Pete West school of thought is TOUGH. Survival of the
fittest. It was a fair contract, they knew what they were signing for, etc
etc.

 

I think that’s completely bullshit and if you have to have it explained to
you, using examples like someone ripping off your parents who might have
alzheimers or dementia, or ripping off hard working but uneducated / unaware
people, people who would really go out of their way to help you if you
needed it…and you STILL can’t get it, then you’re just not gonna get it.
You’re locked into an US vs THEM model as opposed to an US model, and with
those blinkers on you’ll always see black and white (or one of the two).

 

Misrepresentation of the ability to finance a loan to unsophisticated people
(money wise) is not okay, it doesn’t mean they ‘deserve’ it, because it’s
just that. Misrepresentation (aka a lie). Just because you got someone to
fall for it, doesn’t mean that it’s morally acceptable. 

 

I’m personally glad that the banks themselves have had this come back to
bite them, unfortunately when banks suffer so does the entire economy.

It alway amazed me that people are surpised by what is happening to the
housing market here in the States.  Talk about a superficial market!  They
should have made it illegal for people to get into the houses they did with
bullshit mortgages and inflated prices, fucking getting taken advantage of.
I know you'll say they should have known better, but does it make it
right....
