[kj] off topic - FR. PERDURABO

I'm quite happy to vilify Hubbard, there's loads of anti-scientology stuff
on the web, I've done a few trawls.it's amazing what they try and get away
with, and how much they put their foot in it sometimes with their 'attack
the attacker' bullshit.

Crowley interests me, I learned a bit about him through Robert Anton Wilson
actually, and any association with Hubbard is merely unfortunate IMO. Think
we've discussed the same situation with Nietzsche and Nazis.the (later)
association tarnished the reputation of the former a bit, to those who
didn't bother looking into it for themselves.

I'm a Crowley novice, but personally I believe that a lot of the rituals etc
that he / they did, didn't appeal to anything supernatural, but were
internal alchemical experiments.the ritual serves as a tool for you to
change your own belief system, by worshiping a deity or supernatural entity,
and using rituals to support that worship, you end up changing your whole
belief system and perception, and when you have gone through a rigorous
process of doing that several times, you break down the walls of your solid,
crystalline beliefs and change your perceptions.you realize that so much of
life is perception and belief. You let in (to your consciousness) only that
which you're willing and able at the time to understand, everything else is
basically ignored, or attempted to be, consciously or unconsciously.

Fuck I'm late for work :-)

Oh, I knew what you meant, and I wholeheartedly agree with you.

I just figured that there were some folks on the list that didn't know about
the "black magical" side of Hubbard.
He's been stealing money from important people for a loooooong time.

Usually any time Crowley gets brought up on this list it's the usual "did he
*really* eat babies and drink cat's blood?" nonsense, and I figured that we
could use that bit of vilification aimed elsewhere for a change. ;)

My point is that Hubbard was a total piece of shit and Bob Wilson was a
fucking genius, I'm aware that Hubbard was into Crowley.

" Hubbard and. RAW don't belong in the same sentence! "

Au Contraire!
Both were followers of Crowley's philosophy of Thelema.

Hubbard was even a member of the Ordo Templi Orientis for awhile.

Google "Hubbard + O.T.O." for a laugh.

Don't forget to read between the "Black Magick" bullshit lines. ;)
