I'm obviously going senile 'cos I received (and read) that mailout!  Sounds worth investing in...

This is the most fun caption competition ever! Members wanting to cop
old of some really good lyrics, not to mention some early examples of
r. Porter's clonky drumming (he improved) are recommended a new CD
alled All Burnt Out by Null & Void. Null & Void was formed around
982 by Andy Barker, with roots in Somerset, and Mr. Porter joined
hem after Zounds split up. By far and away one of the best bands he
as ever in, the song writing is unique, much of the performance is
aut – except some of the drum fills – and the lyrics engaging and
ysterious. Three things cause Mr. Porter deep regret when he listens
o it. Firstly, the fact that he didn't write God's Own Words,
econdly, that he never came to grips with An Old Way, and now wishes
e could drum to it again the way it should have been played, and
hirdly – and ironically – that he was such a po-faced anarcho at the
ime that Andy quite rightly threw him out of the band. Thus, he
issed the chance of recording with Joe Strummer, and didn't actually
lay on some of the best recordings on this release. Bugger!

I was going to go and see Blyth tonight, but I'm feeling really shit and the

child is on the way).

Interesting about null and void. There's no mention of JP on their website,
and I've never heard it from him... are you sure? How long was it for?

The gig in Derby is Joseph solo (which I'll probably attend). Blyth are
playing Ulverston on the 24th... which I might also go to.
