Ahhhh, refreshing! Really enjoying this thread -- drum and guitar and
music talk, all of it.

I think you hear bits of the harmonics return in the
ascender chord in "The Death and Resurrection Show".
It's not ALL chug-chug. I admit that I started doing a
bit of the eye rolling myself when I heard the chugs
were back in "Hosannas", but, as you said, that must
be what Geordie wants.
Just not what I want. Hense the varying opinions.

Yeah, I was relieved to hear parts of Geordie's "old" style come back on
the "Majestic" chorus and I've started to appreciate his notes in the
title track. But with still so much chug on this album, and upon hearing
that he did the "Afterburner" remix -- which features the chug looped
prominently -- I finally realized yes, this really is a sound Geordie
wants/enjoys/is comfortable with right now. Funny that it's taken me two
albums to admit it.
Despite this, I'm relatively pleased with the new album vs. my
expectations -- until the last three songs, anyway. But I can't help
mourn what might have been with "Walking With Gods" and its victorious
chorus, if only there had been some strafing Geordie chords bouncing
around the verses rather than the keyboard-mimicing chug-chug. But as
you say, it's what he wants, and not what some of us want...and I guess
it's not my art to f*ck with...
