  Yes, Alex, honestly!

For once, I have to disagree with you ;)

This track is IMHO definitely not utterly forgettable

for its drum section barrage which is withourt equal in any KJ track,

  for its pounding bassline

but of course most of all for its lyrics.=20

Some time ago there was a discussion going on here if KJ had actually =
ever done something like a love song. Some folks went at great pains to =
reconsider some pretty aggessive, fierce, sex-oriented etc tracks as =
kinda love songs. I had some problems following that interpretation. OK, =
we remember this evocative line "do it out of love" in Struggle. But =
thats about fighting, ultimately out of love, but its not really about =
love itself. Lots of other tracks like Jana are very much about =
compassion. We have songs reveling in fond memories of Absent Friends or =
about going to where the lunatics roam in places of Lanterns of Hope.=20

  But love between two individuals?

  Now read these lyrics:

  There's so much to say
  And so little time
I'd like to say thank you
  For the moments we shared
  They open the blinds
  I look through the window
  Look into my eyes
  And never let go

There is so much that you don't see
There is so much that you don't tell
I never told you how much I felt
Now I give you the full truth
Think only the best of me
Think only the best of me
There's only one thing you should know
  Love is sweeter than death

And in the moment before you take your last breath
  Catch my eye
When you know it's your last embrace
Then we'll say our last goodbyes
And in the moment before you take your last breath
  Catch my eye
When you know it's your last embrace
Then we'll say our last goodbyes

In 1997 the USA carried out seventy four executions, the highest =
number for four decades. Only China, Saudi Arabia, and Iran were known =
to have executed more prisoners.=20

And in the moment before you take your last breath=20
  Catch my eye
When you know it's your last embrace=20
Then we'll say our last goodbyes
And in the moment before you take your last breath=20
  Catch my eye
When you know it's your last embrace=20
Then we'll say our last goodbyes

  Killing Joke, Our Last Goodbye=20

  =20

Gosh, someone posted here that he just started crying when first =
listening to "You will never get to me". As far as I am concerned, it =
was this track that really cought me emotionally. The last goodbye of a =
loving couple when one of them is going to be executed. You can almost =
see how they try to remain together, how the guards pull them apart.=20

And then towards the end of the track the melody carries on for a =
moment until suddenly the hellmachine of the drums and the bassline are =
immediately cut off by the sound of a heavy iron door being shut and =
locked.

I think this is neither cheap nor tacky nor forgettable. This was done =
with regard not to some anonymous suppressed masses but to three young =
innocent boys on death row in Mississipi.

Most of KJ exites me, much moves me but this one never seazes to touch =
my heart.. Had to get this of the same ;)

  Cheers,

  Sven
