I agree with Fluw on this one. When I first heard the word "staged," I was
initially shocked and appalled, as "staged" seems to imply that it was
somehow a "hoax" and/or "didn't really happen" (and as someone who lives
just a bit downwind of the site, I can very much attest that it did).
However, if Jaz is implying that Dubya & the Powers That Unfortunately Be
knew about the plan prior to its execution,.....well, at this rate, I
wouldn't put it past him. I'm not convinced there was a palpable connection
between Al Qaeda and Iraq, but Bush & Co. managed to blur the lines through
a muddled campaign of miscommunication and obfuscation in order to find
justification for his war, so clearly deceiving his masses isn't something
new to him.

oh i wouldn't say it is offensive to suggest, history tells us the
likelihood that it WASN't staged is rare. but i think the term he used,
'staged', is what is incorrect...more like the hijackers where accommodated,
their plans harbored, and covertly accompliced.
anyway, looking forward to the backstage chatter about this one come fall 03

enough raise the point as a question - perhaps it was staged - but to just
come out with these conspiracy theories coz they give you the horn is

not really but i do remember him mentioning trouble with the daily papers on
the interview disc. i think the fact that he got in the national press
(rather than the music press) appealed to his ego.
