Speaker Bios:

Keynote Speaker
Dr. William F. Miller, Herbert Hoover Professor of Public and Private
Management Emeritus; Professor of Computer Science Emeritus and former
Provost, Stanford University and Co-director, SPRIE.
Dr. William F. Miller has spent about half of his professional life in
business and about half in academia. He was the last faculty member
recruited to Stanford University by the legendary Frederick Terman. In 1968
Dr. Miller also played a role in the founding of the first Mayfield Fund as
a special limited partner and advisor to the general partners. In 1982
Miller was appointed to the National Science Board. He has served on the
board of directors of several major companies such as Signetics, Firemans
Fund Insurance, First Interstate Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Pacific Gas and
Electric Company, Varian Associates, WhoWhere? Inc., Sentius Corporation,
CommerceNet, Nanostellar, Inc., and Borland Software Corp. (Chairman). Dr.
Miller is a Life Member of the National Academy of Engineering, Fellow of
the American Academy of Arts and Science, Fellow of the American Association
for the Advancement of Science, Life Fellow of IEEE, and Member of the
Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame.

Moderator
Chuck Erickson, Executive Director and CEO, US Market Access Center
Mr. Erickson is a seasoned executive with over 35 years of management
experience focused in the areas of innovative software and hardware
development, international business and corporate operations. He has
extensive international experience in software and hardware development,
marketing, and manufacturing. He has recently held positions of corporate
President/CEO, CTO, Managing Director, and Technical Director of
entrepreneurial management teams in start-up and turn-around companies. Mr.
Erickson holds a BSEE from Illinois Institute of Technology, has done
post-graduate studies at The University of Chicago, and has taught at IIT,
Penn State University and San Jose State University.

Panelists

Lili Zheng, Deputy Managing Partner, Chinese Services Group, Deloitte USA
Ms. Zheng has more than 20 years of experience in international tax and
business consulting services for multinational companies’ inbound and
outbound investments. Lili has extensive knowledge in IPO positioning,
establishing offshore IP holding companies, and advising on entry and exit
strategies for cross-border investments. She is Deloitte’s resident expert
on China related matters. She is also a frequent speaker in Atlas, Bio 2006,
the Council for International Tax Education (CITE), Financial Executives
International (FEI). She was voted by International Tax Review as one of the
top US tax advisors in 2002-2003. In 2004 Lili was awarded AWIB Leadership
award by Asian Women In business.

Jang Hyuk Im, Immigration Attorney, Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.
For more than a decade, Mr. Im has advised and assisted companies in a wide
range of immigration and other employment-related matters such as securing
all documentation, visas and permits necessary to facilitate the admission
of individuals in temporary working visa classifications. Mr. Im also
assists clients with international business matters related to such laws as
the European Safe Harbor Privacy mandates and foreign environmental
statutes. He also was in private practice where he assisted dozens of
Internet start-up companies in drafting and managing all types of immigrant
and non-immigrant petitions.

Joni Girardi, Founder and CEO, DataSelf Corp.
Joni has participated in the start up of four technology companies in the US
- three of them being funded by Brazilian enterprises. He is a
results-driven professional with extensive experience dealing with
technological innovations and their commercial applications. He holds an MBA
degree from NSU/Florida and a BS Electric Engineer degree from UFRGS/Brazil.


Matthew Hately, General Manager, Silicon Valley - Macadamian Inc.
Matthew joined Macadamian, a Canadian headquartered company, in 1998, and
prior to his role as General Manager, Matthew was VP Marketing, responsible
for Macadamian's North America marketing strategy. Matthew has also served
as Director of Web Solutions at Macadamian, responsible for managing a team
that delivered Web application development projects to public and private
sector clients. He moved to California in 2007 to open Macadamian’s office
in Silicon Valley and is enjoying the mild winters.

Michi Lackey, Project Coordinator, JETRO
Michi is Project Coordinator at JETRO San Francisco/BIC, an incubator that
provides support for Japanese IT startups seeking to enter the global market
to maximize their opportunities. Michi is responsible for providing
assistance with US market entry strategies for client companies, planning
seminars and hosting events for Japanese entrepreneurs. She also serves as
Secretary General for SVJEN, Silicon Valley Japanese Entrepreneur Network.
Prior to joining JETRO she worked for several US startups in San Francisco,
including Looksmart and DigitalThink. Michi holds a bachelor’s degree in
psychology from Washington State University and is currently pursuing her
MBA at UC Davis.

Simarprit Singh, Founder and CEO, Compare Infobase Limited
Simarprit began his career as a Research Associate at NIIT. He left to
become an entrepreneur and set up DISC (Information Technology) Pvt. Ltd.
While at DISC, he made a presentation to the United Nations on Information
Technologies and Developing Countries. He later served as the VP of Business
Development at Nucleus Software, prior to his return to entrepreneurship at
Compare Infobase. In 1998, Compare Infobase was born. From then on, he’s
been instrumental in growing Compare Infobase as a leading web design and
web development company. Simarprit has B.Com degree in Statistics and a
Post-graduate diploma in Computer Applications.
