I would certainly be up for doing this, I think ASCIIDoctor is a far
superior source format to DocBook/XML and it can simply sit on the
DocBook/XML tool chain already there. Or actually sweep it away in
favour of the slimline toolchain.

On the other hand, I promised a Python 3 version…
