[Scons-users] Distinguishing platforms

From what I can tell, SCons has no way of distinguishing Fedora from
Debian, it has only "posix" to cover all distrivutions of Linux. Has anyone
worked out an idiom for having builds that properly distinguish Fedora and
Debian (and Ubuntu, Mint,…) or do I have to start hacing around checking
kernel version string data to infer the platform?
