Is that unnecessarily cynical?  I'm sure flyers will enjoy a success /
failure rate with any given person... advertizement is about working the
numbers, after all.

Yes, but those are also more time and energy to deliver the message and
to follow up on it.  You get what you pay for.  It's the old "do I want
to sell a few high quality items or a lot of low quality items?"
problem.

That's a good idea actually.  Business card stacks are retained as
having perceived value, even if a lot of them are never looked at again.

Again, the advantage of flyers is quantity.  They're awfully cheap, and
awfully easy to produce.  You don't have to spend as much time
evaluating how interested someone is.

I would say try both.
