[kj] Governments Should Stop Being A Killing Joke - The Light truthpaper interviews Jaz

My apologies- I meant the Japanese would disagree with the idea that masks don't help to restrict disease. Currently here (Japan, that is), we have a much lower rate of COVID infection than most First World countries, and I would say roughly 99% of the population wear masks whenever they're in public. I do too, not least because there is something of a stigma attached to NOT wearing a mask when you're out and about. The Japanese have always been quick to wear masks when they have a cold or it's hay fever season, but it's even more prevalent now.

Jim.

Not sure which point is being differed with here. Lesley Lee doubts the efficacy of masks. Jim Harper says the Japanese wouldn't agree -- but with which? The efficacy of masks or Lesley Lee's refutation of same?
Make are not a cure. Hell, VACCINES are not a cure. They merely boost your body's immune system. But there have been numerous studies to suggest that masks definitively help in stemming the spread. If you want to beg to differ with science, however, you go right ahead.  You know best, of course.

I think most people would disagree, but then that seems to be the point at this stage. Back to square one. Looking like a two tier society on the horizon, vaccinated and non vaccinated. As if things were not bad enough : (

Normally I'd be a little more optimistic, but it's hard to see any silver linings these days. Anyway, sorry, just feeling a bit down, off work with an injured cuff rotator, so feeling useless. It'll pass : )

No. It hasn't.

I mean, on the one hand, it really is "classic" Jaz Coleman. There has truly never been a point wherein he HASN'T be preoccupied with conspiracies. From "Are You Receiving?" through PYLON (and, I guess, "The Day The Earth Went Mad," not that I bought that), Jaz's worldview has been singularly defined by an inherent skepticism about (and a contrarianism towards) the party line, so to speak. It's what he is. It's what he does. It's nothing new. But, I have to say, in this instance, it gives me pause. He's certainly said some outrageously indefensible things in the past ("I want to be a suicide bomber," etc.), but the puffy-chested espousal of not wearing masks in this instance just strikes me as a bridge too far. Okay, for the sake of argument, let's go along with Jaz's assertion that the pandemic (notice I did not put that word in quotation marks?) was a weaponized, orchestrated initiative --- even if that *was* indeed the case, the wearing of masks has been demonstrably effective in curtailing the contagion. So, whether it was caused by a sinister cabal or it was indeed some kind of accident or natural occurrence is immaterial. By not wearing a mask and endorsing same, he is being willfully irresponsible and ostensibly putting his fellow human being at risk by his lack of consideration. This is all my interpretation and opinion, so ... y'know ... make of it what you will, but I find this particular stance pretty indefensible (not too unlike Lydon backing Trump). My two cents.

It does sound ominous when he says:
"I am the archetypal fool; I will talk about the things people don't want to talk about. I will continue to do so, until they shut me up. When that is? Couldn't give a fuck!"
I feel the guy has a right to free speech and free expression as we all should as individuals with our own personal opinions and beliefs, while not agreeing 100% with everything he says.
There has in fact been a backlash over the past few weeks from the BBC, Tories and Lib Dems to that particular issue being pushed through people's letterboxes.

‘kin’ Hell…
I can honestly hope the '#cancelled mob'™ don’t hear about this.
In the past this would have been ignored as the raving of an idio, err eccentric artist, but now, it’s career ending.
