There must be vast hordes of young uns who feel this band piss all over bands 20 or 30 years their junior

Agree – I saw a surprising amount of ‘kids’ getting right into Soundgarden last year, very heartening. They knew their stuff too.

Was the same deal for me at secondary school (87 – 91), me and my mates were obsessed with Hendrix, Floyd and Zeppelin, and I really dug the Beatles, ELO…the only band I was current with was Queen and Guns N Roses.

For all this stupid, fabricated Gen x vs Baby Boomer thing, and not to detract from Punk etc, they had some fucking legends.

Took me a lot, lot longer to get into 80s underground / post punk stuff, more’s the shame.

The general consensus amongst those I spoke to in the Bull & Gate post-gig was that it was a great performance - i'd got in the venue quite late & it was difficult to get anywhere near the front without lots of barging so I hung back a bit, not too far from the bar :o)

There must be vast hordes of young uns who feel this band piss all over bands 20 or 30 years their junior - and not just kids at metal festivals- i don't know why folks get so critical of Killing Joke here - of course they play for themselves - after 30+ years, that's no surprise. We are all entitled to our own opinions but I'm conscious this is a period in the band's history that few of us ever expected would happen & it ain't no lame attempt either IMHO.

To me they now seem to be getting that level of respect & kudos that other seminal bands (Velvets, Stooges, Cpt Beefheart, The Doors) get & that is a far better outcome that any of us could have imagined during the 7 year hiatus.

If they do knock it on the head after this tour, I feel they've gone out on a high - five extra years of KJ with Youth & Big Paul - you lucky people !!!
