[kj] Forum Gig

I would not say the gig was shit at all...Jaz's voice was top notch, and
every time I have seen him since the reformation of the original line up he
looks younger, slimmer and healthier than ever...the band also seemed in
good spirits..which they should seeing its the start of the tour.

The sound mixing seemed ok from where I was, perhaps Geordie's guitar a
little low for my liking, a little too drum heavy and the mosh pit was the
liveliest I have seen it in a good while.

If anything it was the setlist that was a bit shit, and the fact the band
came on at 9:15 fucked off at 10:15, came back to do an encore and then
fucked off again at 10:38..to plenty of crowd applause for more...and did
not come back.

They did however re-jig the setlist a bit from the Corby gig, and played
"Change", but dropped both "Tension" and "The Great Cull".

For a band with such a repertoire of songs to choose from, regardless of an
energetic set I feel there is no excuses to play less than 1hr 30..although
I do not think in around the 20 times I have seen KJ play live they have
mustered anything more than 1hr 40 mins.

Beautiful Dead sounded amazing..refreshing to see it in the set....but (and
partially excusably because it was a themed "singles" set) it is getting
rather stale hearing the same old...but this is another problem...could you
imagine them not playing "Requiem", "Psyche", "The Wait", "Wardance" etc
etc..the band desperately need to lengthen the set to appease all it seems
to me.

Lows for me were "Whiteout" sounded flat, "This World Hell", boring and ill
fitting with the rest of the material, the puzzlingly crowd loved
"Asteroid" which I have always fucking hated as it sounds like a Kerrang
readers cock rock tune....Highlights for me most certainly "The Beautiful
Dead", Big Paul totally a match for playing Extremeties era Joke
effortlessly, "Chop Chop", "Follow The Leaders", and "Money Is Not Our God"

I do however feel it was a wasted opportunity to refresh and play some
other songs they have not played in a long while such as "Democracy",
"Millennium", "Seeing Red", "Adorations", "New Day", "Birds Of A Feather"
etc.

All in all, not a bad night, just left me wanting for more..something I
should probably be ashamed of seeing I am lucky to live in the UK and get
to see KJ more regularly than other gatherers.
