>Oh god, now I have this mental picture of him!!! He does have a slightly different dress sense, but know leg warmers. I am not sure of his walkman playlist but he does still have Love Like Blood as his ring tone. If I am honest I knew Roger well for about 3 years without actually knowing he was Rankin Roger, then he was just Roger who was in and around Bearwood where I live!! He was then not in a band as such and he did coach roller blading for ages and also wrote magazine articles etc. I bumped into him on the High Street and someone joined him and said aren’t you playing on Friday etc. Me being an idiot asked if he was in a band and he said yes The Beat to which I replied you are not Rankin Roger? I did have a period where he knew wifey and I really well – these days I see him less but he is always pleased to see you – he is a really nice bloke as is junior.

>Ha ha too true – the “latest” album has being going on since god knows – they did have Adrian Sherwood in the frame at one point but I am not entirely sure if that would have worked as much as I like him!! I think Roger wants to do the producing etc. himself but he is never satisfied with what he has. I know that he has built an amazing recording facility in his house but never seems to get close to doing the album. He was in touch with Geordie for a while who sent him some guitar tracks but nothing became of that. He does love the live shows and he does dj alot – plus he has his roller blades so he is happy.

Personally I think it is one of thee great albums so this is a big bonus. Saw Roger about a month ago and he was still working on the new album, told me about the new guitarist etc. and the Selector show gossip but never mentioned these coming!!!
