[kj] New Topic-Single/Album covers

I must disagree, although i do have a rather strong emotional attachment to
Mike's artwork from
the early days, in particular all the covers for the singles. And as soon
as I saw the In Cythera artwork
it just felt and looked right - I don't think it would have looked out of
place on one of those early singles.
And it echoes his designs for KJ for Beginners and Chaos for Breakfast (and
even the Nervous System
EP) - the return of the creepy blond cherub. I think Mike's designs gave
the band a mysterious identity
and continuity and, it's worth saying yet again, they were stupid to drop
him! Compare WTF..! (still one of the
strangest record sleeves I think I have ever seen) to later efforts.

As for people being actively put off a band because of some artwork, I find
that unlikely - I have some records I
love with some terrible/awful/cheesy artwork but it never stopped me buying
them if I liked the music.

I agree the new LP looks worryingly generic and do wonder if Mike was given
free rein on that or was
told what to do.
