I quite like the intimacy of receiving something in my inbox as opposed to going online & reading something.
It does make you feel like you are conversing with friends
I just ignore certain thread headers once I've had enough (& yes, as Jon pointed out it would help is headers were changed when a thread branches off)
I think one of the problems with the gathering is we've all been on here for so long we've dissected & discussed every aspect of killing joke down to their toe nail clippings & you reach a point where there's not a lot else to say on the matter. As a result it's turned into more of a social thing & with any get together someone always says something banal or stupid.
However, the bickering & sideswiping can get very tiresome & as in the real world it only takes one or two people to bring down an entire street.
I unsubbed a while ago after reading a particular comment & to my surprise I found I really missed it.
Although I rarely contribute anymore I do like having it in the background. I guess working alone from home this is the closest I get to office banter!
When it gets shitty I just stop reading for a while.
