[kj] Yiggers at Porn....

Seems a bit late in the day to be worrying about Killing Joke's
"accessibility." If you wanted to tar them with that brush, one could
argue that their mid-to-late 80's period were their most shameless in
that respect.

In 2010, I don't think Killing Joke harbor too many illusions about
becoming suddenly mega-successful. When the charts are ruled by pop
the likes of which makes their 80's contemporaries like Bucks Fizz and
Wham sounds like Crass by comparison, I doubt the Joke are expecting
to get put in regular FM radio rotation. Sure --- recruiting Dave
Grohl to handle the sticks a couple of albums back seems like a grasp
towards relevance, but I don't think it really catapulted them anywhere.

I think ABSOLUTE DISSENT was simply the music the band feels
comfortable making. At this stage of the proceedings, they were
*never* going to put out an unlistenable, "inaccessible" record (the
closest they've come to that might be HOSANNAS -- which wasn't so much
inaccessible as underproduced). At the end of the day, Killing Joke
were never slackjawed noise-merchants. They're musicians. Aggressive?
Yes, but to expect something non-melodic out of them seems a bit
unrealistic.
