[kj] Gathering Digest, Vol 93, Issue 20

I guess on the bright side... At least I was able to see Big Paul the last
recent show in Seattle... Albeit... No Youth. I've never seen all four
together though. I've luck to see Raven, Youth, Jaz, Geordie, and Big Paul.
And, my highlight of the December show, I was about a meter from Jaz when
entering the pub.

If Atkins played... Well, that would make an amazing show!!! Especially if
they played some tracks from Extremities!!

Big Pauls Knee is fucked up aswell,he had it all strapped up during
rehearsals - maybe 9 gigs in 11 days or whatever would have fooked it up
even more.

if they find a half decent drummer i see no reason whatsover not to attend
the shows - if people are considering not going just because BPF ain't
playing then don't,you're daft.

"not switching their setlist around" is one of the biggest understatements
I've ever heard. They make the Ramones seem like a new-album live band.
Still, you gotta see the Joke--you never know when that magic show may
happen. Unfortunately however they do seem to get less intense every
10 years or so they play live in Boston.

Fuckin lame! One thing they need to do is communicate which doesn't seem to
be happening in full for when they hook up dates. Not having a band meeting
and not telling one another the dates they are playing or if they can is
beyond me! This is why we held out for tickets for LA. The last tour was a
disappointment too with not Youth on board towards the end. It was a good
show.... but not their best I have ever seen, and I have seen em' a lot
since 82. And it looks like they are not switching their set list around and
the only way to tell is when they start playing the US dates. I'm kind of
getting sick of the same songs played on same setlist . But who knows we may
go but as of now I don't think so.

Thanks for the info Jon!

Cheers,

~ LB

If they were playing in Minneapolis, I'd go see them with Meg White on
drums.

I am not, however, going to spend $1000 traveling to some SW hell-hole to
see a BPF-less band again.

Been there. Done that.

I was up rarher earlier (06:15) than i'd like to be after a gig but must
confirm what an awesome audio & visual assault on the senses it was last
night (stunning work from Colesy). No surprises in the setlist but it was a
triumphant performance IMHO - it felt more like a showcase rather than a
"real" Killing Joke gig but mixed with the visuals, it became a truly
apocalyptic experience - even the often maligned Asteroid became a monster
of megaton proportions with the huge visual backdrop. It helped being 3 rows
from the front (Mr Peace next to me & Rob Cannell just behind) but almost
everyone was up on their feet throughout the set. It got a bit mad
immediately in front of the stage later & hopefully nobody got hurt as
several collided with the front row seating.

Nice to see so many familiar faces, none less than Dave Wright who made it
into the mosh & hopefully found it all a hugely cathartic experience after
his recent tragic events.

Several of us got interviewed outside the venue before the gig for
winkball.com - asked to explain about our love of Killing Joke. I guess
there is a link - will post it if I find it. Cheers.

Regards, Antoni
