That sounds like an arsehole soundguy, to me. Quite possibly inept. Obviously with no sense of time management..
Burgess doesn't say it was KJ who requested that they not check before them.

i pretty much love the chameleons & killing joke in equal measure so won't take sides but
for those interested, I've scanned the pages from Mark Burgess' autobiography about said KJ soundcheck incident...
