And I, personally, would totally disagree with both your brother and Alex :)
Fish-era Marillion featured over-long musical outings with somewhat impenetrable lyrics and a melodramatic delivery. They showed their influences rather too obviously as well.
I like it but the post-Fish material is its own thing and a far more mature and considered animal - again in my humble opinion

My brother played "Script for a Jester's Tear" and then "Fugazi" by Marillion on heavy rotation. He would totally agree with you about the impact Fish's departure had on Marillion.

He did, but they soldiered on without him -- getting increasingly blander by the effort.
I actually own SCRIPT FOR A JESTER'S TEAR, and don't entirely hate it. Sue me.
