I was there also!
I remember it all just got a bit more gloomy than it already was.
But I recommend ditching whatever plans you have to follow KJ
around and go and see one of the few remaining shuttle launches instead
(allowing of course for the possibility of cancelled-KJ-tour-disappointment
x100
if the bloody thing doesn't launch).
But I've been meaning to do it for 20 years - it was a lot of hassle and
organising but worth it, most amazing spectacle I've ever seen

I was about another 5 miles closer than where this was shot :)
The rumble when the sound wave reached us was incredible,
