[kj] equipment being hijacked and tapes being withheld

Sounds like we weren't the only ones being ripped-off. If they didn't pay the bills then there was no chance of getting the album out etc.

I don't buy some of the comments that seem to indicate that we only have ourselves to blame for booking flights, tickets etc because we should expect things to fuck up. Sounds like some kind of old buyer beware quackery to me and sorry but I expect better than that.

If that what Killing Joke means then I hope you/ they book a holiday with a firm that goes tits up and can't get your money back.. Anyway something along those lines- that would be a double Killing Joke.

And I don't know if they know, but capitalist shit radio in the US (I guess UK still has BBC, which plays some real music--bands like the Pistols and Bad Manners were, after all, on the radio, but were completely ostracized here and could only be heard on college radio) doesn't give a crap about wrinkly old 80s one (or two, if you include Eighties) minor hit wonders like the Joke. And without radio airplay, or at least very aggressive internet exposure, bands don't stand a chance of getting much of a following. Hell, last years New York Dolls show (after their nice 2009 album), at the same club where the Joke were supposed to play in May, was not even full, and this is a 600 capacity club.

I understand why they aren?t as big as their music dictates they should be now. Keep alienating a small but fiercly loyal fanbase, and you end up with a progressively smaller, less loyal fanbase. Regardless of getting Grohl on drums. Decades of this stuff just shows a real persistent problem with ego, personality, sanity, planning, goals, ethics. I dunno. I really dig the guys but I can understand why they wanna punch each other up every time they get into the studio.

Snap quiz: If they kept pissing people off, and whittled their fans down to one hardcore individual...who do you reckon would be the last gatherer standing? I?m going with Pete West, becuse that would be the Killingest Joke.

It's sort of hard to hold off when you're so excited to see one of your all time favorite bands.

As much as history has shown in the past, the fear of not getting the flight/train ticket and the fear of rising costs at
any given moment is usually more than enough for one to go ahead and buy it.

Trump/shmump. I understand that they want it to be success (as we all do) but they should never have scheduled a tour
date if they did not have an somewhat tentative timetable of when the album would be completed.

My heart goes out for every gatherer that shelled out hard earned money only to be told "oopsie".

It's just wrong.

Honor thy fans. (Who've gone out and bought just about every damn thing you put out.)

Well, it's official. I found it interesting that there's no mention of refunds, only that tickets would be honored for whatever the
new dates will be.

I really think that no matter how much Youth trumps up the new album, postponing what looked to be KJ's biggest tour in the past 15
years over the fact they're still fudging with the album is inexcusable at this stage, especially considering show and whole tour
postponements and cancellations have been a major issue with this band for decades. I would be floored if the "listening party"
goes forward at this point.

Knowing this band's history, I would have never booked travel arrangements for outside my area to see a show until the absolute last
minute and in fact, I hesitated even buying a ticket for the local show in LA when it first went on sale. I feel for those people
who trusted this band to deliver on their obligation and have been let down (again, in many cases) and are out whatever sums of
cash, especially in this poor economy.

I agree 100 % with Alex that at least they came out and acknowledge the
situation at hand.

Regarding the "equipment hijackings and witheld tapes", my guess would
be the band went way overbudget and Spinefarm dragged their ass on sending
money. From there, sounds like the studio (britannia row?) wouldn't let
any tapes or gear leave until the tab was paid up.
If you are in the position of running a recording studio, record labels
almost always take forever to pay up , and if you take it on faith that
they will pay you, you're screwed. Anyway, that's just a guess. - CP

Dear dodgy Pete,

we know all about you. Nevertheless, you have a very good point and while
the circumstances are out of
control, the very least we could do is credit you for your single second
class bus ticket on the record,
plus a few more deserving cases. It would probably make better artwork than
the 2003 record, if you could
include some real whining, this would up the entertainment factor.

Great idea: send all invoices and bills to Universal Records and tell them
to put it on our tab. We will
return your travel expenses in late 2012. I have a list of new names for you
as I hear you have been banned
from the mailninglist - you definitely sound like one of my friends.

My 50th birthday party will take place in Geneva as planned and all
Gatherers are welcomed to the ceremony
in Paris on the 19th (unless I don't like you).

Get yourself an enema and chill out.

Yeah. Good on Youth.

I'd much rather have it right than early. I don't care when they release it. I don't care about cancelled gigs, it's just a record ffs.

I feel sorry for those who are out of pocket but I would have thought that you might have leant by now! This is Killing Joke. This is what Killing Joke means!

Look, I like Killing Joke but I'm fucked if I'd travel round the world for 'em!

Killing Joke Tour
*Category:*Music

Honour the fire
It is with great pain that the band have had to postpone the European and American tour until later in the year.
We are 3 months overdue in delivering this album! I think it could very well be the greatest album we have ever made.
The reasons why we are so over due are many...not least because we have so many contender tracks and that they deserve the attention to detail that we are now givingthem. We http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vdGhlbS5XZQ== have survived equipment being hijacked ,tapes being withheld, nervous breakdowns, family bereavements, blood lettings and a host of other challenges of biblical proportions and were still at the rock face as determined as ever to give it our best and every drop we have.
reluctantly our managers and record company have persuaded us that it would be criminal to rush release a masterpiece and its really about getting it right. As i write we are still adding various overdubs and distilling down the mix to its definitive conclusion. She has been an ambitious album to manifest and we are now at the final ascent and i have to say its one of the greatest albums i have had the privilege to be involved with ...EVER!
It is stunning! I have been living and breathing it for over 4 months and i'm still jawdroppingly amazed at its power and beauty ...its far out. Despite the frustration and inconvenience of having to wait for this and having to re-arrange the next few months schedule to accommodate these changes ,I am sure it will be worth it.Massive apologies to those who have rearrange their schedules and lives around this turn of events.
I guarentee double orgasms all round when you hear the sound of Big Paul's drum kit reducing your senses to a pulp.
Today we were supposed to master it ,yesterday we had to postpone as we are still recording and mixing!!!
We have gone through so much to get here we have to see this through to the end.
thanks for all the continued support and inspiration.
y

I include a message from Paul on the bands behalf
Dear Friends and Family,

It's with great reluctance I have to inform you all of our postponing the upcoming tour dates and rescheduling of the album release.

I am incredibly grateful to the The Gathering and fans for all their support and it pains me very much that things have unfolded as they have.

We are all super excited about the recent recording and I personally am very proud to have had taken part and had so much input in this endeavour.

We have all given our utmost to make this an album to be proud of and capture the best that is Killing Joke.

Unforeseen circumstances have made meeting deadlines impossible and have let to this extremely hard decision.

Of course all tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled shows in September and we look forward eagerly playing the new material to you.

With Respect.

Big Paul. KJ._______________________________________________
