[kj] It starts...Album & tour Postponed to September

I agree with Cliff about the self release thing being a sensible route (Jaz even spoke about the record business needing to adapt Trent Reznor doing that NIN release & making $gazoodles with no middle man to pay) but as Rob said it's taking the easy money.
KJ are an influential band but they aren't a big band & as such will never make a lot.
I might be wrong here but I sense that Jaz's classical work & Youths production are very the day jobs & Killing Joke is mountain biking at the weekend but I guess it's a different story for Geordie.
(BPF situation I know even less about though after chatting with him strikes me as an intelligent, decent man with his head/finances screwed on)

This 'Money is not our god' line has struck me as a bit of a hypocrisy for a long time.
The cap fit when it was written, but they were shafted, skint & it was over 20 years ago & a lot changes.
I don't have a problem with any of that; everyone has to eat & do the best for themselves & their families, it's just that mantra is a little out of date.
Still, I guess you can still believe in the principle.
like Rob said ideals don't pay the bills.
From a lot of things I've been told privately "Take Take, Take" would be more apt in certain quarters :)

I didn't buy Gems but the whole debacle really irritates me.
Maybe it isn't a fiscally viable product. Maybe there isn't enough cash to release it in the first place. Maybe they're all printed up in in someones loft & they've forgotten where.
If they can't afford to/refuse repay the advances there's nothing to stop them making it available as a download, as a gesture of good faith to those who paid upfront.
OK, so it's a bowl of beans instead of a tin but at least it's something. As it stands at the moment, it's "Feather the nest & fuck the rest"

Tour wise, I know the fat lady hasn't officially sung, but it looks more & more likely that she's warming up so I really feel for everyone who has invested in hotels & flights as well as their annual leave.
Whatever the reason (and I choose to believe that these decisions are borne of necessity not whim) it's worse as it's happened so many times before.
Repeatedly kicking your (actually pretty small) fan base in the balls is not great PR.
All this is going to do for many is sour what promises to be a fantastic album before it's been released
Probably a really stupid question this but is there a remote chance of being covered on travel insurance (any policy?) for any part of it...?

sorry, that was all a bit rambling
