Thank you folk--I agree, the latter has never really been practiced. But that doesn't mean it can't.
 BTW I slipped out of a communist meeting tonight to see the Joke--
good show, ultra-loud (of corse), Jaz seemed a little less intense (no face paint) than in years past. At one point Geordie looked like he was going to kill the roadie (bad
monitor? not sure), but Yoof seemed to be into it at times. Big Paul was a monster--a wall of sound (more than any other drummmer), and he did so much that you don't always notice on the albums
(even sang backing vocs). I shook hand w/the little keyboard player after the show too (nice guy). Drawbacks--only 1 encore (Pandimonium), and no Love Like Blood or European SS. Also, muddy, bass heavy sound. But then again, it was in a rock club (better attendance than in 2003--several hundred).

That strange blurring of Socialist and Communist, indeed. The Ism of the latter never really ever having been practiced. Only in the fear politics of a 'Red Threat'.
Thomas Paine was a Socialist. It's Common Sense, which seems to be lacking.

There is so much to cheer in that vid, but, you do know that first thing is he'll be charred *erm* I mean, tarred, as a Kommunist:

And, worse, they'll say he's also prolly hiding Julian Assange in his basement, having drinks with Jaz Coleman the three of them.
