Yeah I have Peace to blame for that :) I'd love to hear Wilson continue to
go heavier, which is a distinct possibility / trend...more along the lines
of the riff out of Open Car...(one of my favourites)...to me there's
practically nothing better or more pure in music than a heavy emphatic
riff (surprising point off view for a metal fan I know ;). Keep shit like
Lazarus on the Blackfield albums ;)

The track I'd play anyone to get them into Mastodon would be Iron
Tusk...it's atypical of their earlier stuff however, a lot of which is
less cohesive, more death metally I find. Crack the Skye, I could write a
few pages about that one...all I'll say is give it a lot of chances, cos
it's a classic grower. And keep an ear out for the (musical) sense of
humour, pops up very occasionally but quite amusing when it does. Like the
bit in The Czar I think it is where it all goes funky...easy to miss but
really inventive / surprising / funny
