I got off a parking ticket that I got parking on the lawn in front of my own
place once...I basically told the council (politely) that it was their own
fault for not providing enough parking in the CBD, hence people were parking
on the city fringes to walk in to work every day, and I couldn't come home
and get a park ANYWHERE on my street or nearby, after work...FFS-WTF?!.

Keep it up, if you're reasonable they pretty much have to see your point,
it'll get to the stage where someone with a brain eventually sees your
complaint and they do the math...soldier on.

ARRRRRRRRRGH SO I CAN BLOW OFF SOME STEAM NOW????!!!!

#1 I'm currently fighting 2 tix with city of la for parking over 2 hours on
my street, not only that but the 2 hour limit sign was posted THE OTHER WAY
from where i was parked and my first appeal was denied! I'm not working at
the moment and its MENTAL i'm forced to move my car every 2 hours! WHAT THE
HELL IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS LAW?

#2 The leaf blowers are another ridiculous and pointless tool, if no one
was using them the gardeners could simply charge more for their services and
rake leaves the old fashioned way, instead of having a different gardener
with leaf blowers on different days blowing the dust into my windows and
silly 1/8" lawn shavings into the gutters. Such irony, planting something
that requires so much water to grow...then cutting it every week when it
barely grew 1/8th of an inch..then blowing it around with a pile of other
dust and crap. I have a neighbor who's out with a house every time he sees
a DOG, because of the fear the dog will PEE on his grass, nevermind he's
actually buring his grass. When I suggested Aloe or Agave...or some native
grasses...xeriscape? He looked at me like I was from another planet.

ok..i'll save my rant on SUPER GRAPHICS for another time! :)

Heh. I have got your point, Folk.

LA is a car-friendly city. The metro is ridiculous, considering the size of
the city. When--and if--certain projects start, aimed at expanding the metro
service from areas like Santa Monica, there will be more chaos on the
streets, and LA road network is already congested.

Re: leaf blowers. They are so noisy, too. Whenever a gardener comes by to
clear the leaves, I feel like Tim Robbins on "Noise" (of course, same goes
for car alarms). I do not understand why blowers are not replaced with other
devices that vacuum them. Leaves could be then used in compost.

Heh...garbage (and Eurokids). Berlusconi's "bella figura" to clean up cities
like Naples from garbage, to then say that the problem was solved is kinda
bogus. It was like hiding dust under a carpet. As long as mafia controls the
whole garbage business, more and more Italians will have new sources of
pollution in water and soil. Illegal dumping can be found even in the North.
If you watch "Gomorra" you'll get nauseated. I was, because I think of how
beautiful my country of origin is, and how it is strangled by crime,
corruption and pollution in many areas--still, and forever will be, I fear.

I wish more could be done here to favour an easier recycling. In Europe,
recycling containers are bigger and are placed at street corners or blocks.
They are emptied twice a week, if my memory serve s me well.

Water conservation should not be left to the individual, you are right. If I
do my best not to consume water in excess, I wish others would do the same.
I do, since I have common sense, and sleep well at night.

I wish all these summits be used to compare systems, and find a common
ground for countries to resolve problems in the long run. yes, I am an
idealist. I still wish I could believe in something.... I am not a hippie.
Don't you worry ;)

Cheers,
CG

Obama and Sarkozy <http://gfx2.hotmail.com/mail/w3/ltr/i_safe.gif>

How can America lead in climate issues, when they are 20 years behind many
other Countries?
An example (or gripe?)..

Leaf blowers in much of Los Angeles County are illegal. Gas fueled blowers
are much more polluting than the average car. They blow predominantly
non-indigenous foliage etc. into the gutters and consequently storm drains,
which run straight to the ocean. Is the law enforced? No.

In many areas, you can only park your car for 2 hours. If, after 2 hours,
you do not move your car, consequently adding to pollution and traffic
congestion, you will receive at least a $50 dollar parking ticket. Is the
law enforced? Yes.

There is currently a regulation on watering your garden. You can only water
twice a week, due to severe drought. Do most people adhere to these
regulations? No.

Relative to your average Eurokid, American kids (and adults) are decidedly
ignorant on climate issues. There is a distinctly fundamental problem here.
There is no hope, at this rate, Mr. Obama.
