Man, I thought that was a narcissistic bullshit fest. Letterman's motivation seemed to be for him to "have the last word on the situation and be done with it" because it was *very dodgy* what they did to BH. Of course Letterman had to always orient the discussion back to him (even though looking superficially upset now, he stated in a 1995 documentary definitively that it was "management's" decision to delete the material). Bill Hicks' mother's face said it all when he tried to apologize to her. Too little, too late.
