Good call there about the Huffing Post. I never noticed that link was from the Huffing Post.

I'm only guessing here, but i think in 2oo3 the posters and banners may have been drowned out by
the din of the war debates here (not that we solved anything or even prevented the invasion, no, although
it looked like we might have for a second there), bearing in mind that some here were openly pro-war, you
can imagine the debating (I dont' remember if Peter West provoked it or what j/k) and how the power
of banners may have taken a back seat. Were you on the Gathe' by that time?

> There are more links, but how many shall I paste already?

Sorry, I wasn't pushing for more, your point was clearly made.  I'd hate to run into you in a darkened
library (or a packed trial courtroom).

In the press/media/"court of public opinion"? definitely. Saw it just the other day as several national Newscasts pointed out how several u.s.s congressmen were on the take of the Finance industry - but none of the  national newscasts(both A.M and Primetime) named** were Democratic, even though the 4 or 5 highest paid Finance Whores are all Democratic, including Obama and the heads of both Congress and top Congressional Finance/Banking-related committees.
**'cept 1 minor senator in 1 newscast

Around here? It's happened here also.
Micro..macro.., "as above so below," "as within, so without," etc.etc

I guess no group is immune clearly, despite the individual's/individuals' bestest efforts.
I plead guilty on all counts.

I understand that you find all of it to be outrageous, I just don't recall it ever being mentioned here.
The links are from 2003 and upwards. There are more links, but how many shall I paste already?

The thing is, Huff-po and their ilk never made a stance.

Size might not be everything, but there are always extremists cooks everywhere.
However when the cooks are removed and you're left with the regular supporters,
what do you see? I see a big difference in tone.

As I repeatedly point out here, I think there is a massive double standard as to what is allowed, what
is not allowed, who is allowed and who is not allowed. That is all.

I saw**/see them as offensive also. Outrageous is indeed a good word for them.

I'm not a fan of the Huffing-Post (I'm not even sure exactly why you referenced them)
so I couldn't recall their stance at the time...

Whose, mine or someone else's? Au contraire, mon frere, mine perk up really quick at
first hint of such stuff. I wouldn't even march where such banners were used.

Neither, the former are bad enough and the latter are worse. There is a more relevant
distinction (size[of group]isn't everything) i htink you're hinting at, the level of distaste or
offensiveness of each group's placards(?) and if so, yes the Teabaggers were less
    offensive than the antiwar protesters.

Sade, Your outrage is duly noted.

I wonder where your outrage and level of "offense" were about the following.
(And this is all just a tiny smattering from one individual on the west coast)
I don't recall Huff-Po being offended at any of these kind of rallies. I guess the
"I'm offended" neurons must have been misfiring at the time.

When you're done looking through the photos (a quick glimpse will suffice) look at the common theme
between standard placards from the links I placed and the pic of one idiot with a Hitler sign that. Hell, don't
forget to include Code Pink who decided to show up at one of the rallies as well.

So, single or minor idiot offender(s) vs. de facto large gathering of offenders.

Because the title says "offensive" pictures doesn't make it such.
Considering all the errr, protests form the *ahem* "other side" this are quite tame.

Good point from Exo. While I may not share the "teabaggers" views, I fully support their First Amendment rights to speak their minds  -- just as I did with the anti-war and Bush protests, even though I often thought some of the criticism of him was ridiculous and actually not warranted.
I think it's best everyone be civil (that's me, Pollyana ...)  ; )

I was merely quoting your words. Maybe I put to much emphasis on words that
people say and should've thought "maybe he means protest or demonstrate"?
I did, but then wondered why the choice word of riot came up. I guess that sometimes
I'm just not so quick on the button. You'll have to forgive me.
I'll be responding to the astro-turfing in a bit.
It is amazing, however, that when one side protests is all for valid reasons. When they other side protests
it's all because they are a bunch of losers.
Will write more later (though I promise not to turn this into another 800 response email thread)
(Twisted the fuck outa my ankle and gotta ice it down right now. And on the first NICE day of 2009!)
Cheers Oli!

Who said there were tea party "riots"???
I never did. I just pointed out the truth, which is that they are 'astro-turf' (fake grass roots), corporate directed anti-Obama events designed to give vent to sore losers from the 2008 POTUS election.
As far as the teabagging fests, which looked like the worst Sarah Palin rallies from last year, this man is my hero:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkOwsIIIe5I
He 'infiltrated' a tea party and actally said something that was true. He's got big bals for doing that, because most of the people at them are nuts. Accordingly, he gets booed.
