[kj] OT: Tender, moving YouTube video

They're probably going to print money, debase the currency, reduce the
spending power of every single American dollar, it seems to be what is
happening. In effect it taxes literally everything, all forms of asset, all
forms of income.

The only winners are those with a lot of debt, because it reduces the dollar
value of the debt. I.e. it's inflationary (inflate money supply vs a set of
commodities that stays the same = each dollar is worth less). But that
really only works if your income is inflation-adjusted.if inflation is 5%
and you get a 5% pay rise that's great, because it means your debt is worth
5% less. If not, you lose. And I don't think most average incomes have been
matching inflation in the last 20 years.

Well, other than the dedicated protesters most ppl. tend to avoid that stuff
as they have many other
important things to do as well. It just means that there are groups of
individuals that got fed up and
decided to voice their opinions. However what these individuals are doing
are going counter to everything
that has been promoted by the media and they don't like it. Hence, the
mockery and marginalization of it.

If you looked at the signs and listened to what people complained, it was
not all about taxes. It has to
do with the massive spending that the gov't is planning. It simply can not
be covered without raising
taxes on everyone. Even if the gov't were to triple the tax on the
wealthiest is would fall far short.
There were actually quite a few republicans that tried to show up and the
rallies and got boo'd off
as well.

Have a great weekend Greg!

SADE! Word count please!
(BTW, do quotes count as the overall wordcount or not?)

One thing about the "2 sides protesting" argument, Exorcist. The anti-war
people have been doing that stuff for years, and in some cases decades
(going back to Vietnam). I don't blame for some of that crowd being a little
suspicious when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, groups (not too large from
what I could tell, smaller than most earlier anti-war demos) materialize
protesting "taxes" (which of course Obomb-'em has lowered for most), and get
tons of media coverage...

I was merely quoting your words. Maybe I put to much emphasis on words that
people say and should've thought "maybe he means protest or demonstrate"?
I did, but then wondered why the choice word of riot came up. I guess that
sometimes
I'm just not so quick on the button. You'll have to forgive me.

I'll be responding to the astro-turfing in a bit.

It is amazing, however, that when one side protests is all for valid
reasons. When they other side protests
it's all because they are a bunch of losers.

Will write more later (though I promise not to turn this into another 800
response email thread)
(Twisted the fuck outa my ankle and gotta ice it down right now. And on the
first NICE day of 2009!)

Cheers Oli!

Who said there were tea party "riots"???

I never did. I just pointed out the truth, which is that they are
'astro-turf' (fake grass roots), corporate directed anti-Obama events
designed to give vent to sore losers from the 2008 POTUS election.

As far as the teabagging fests, which looked like the worst Sarah Palin
rallies from last year, this man is my hero:

He 'infiltrated' a tea party and actally said something that was true. He's
got big bals for doing that, because most of the people at them are nuts.
Accordingly, he gets booed.
