THE ORB: BAGHDAD BATTERIES {orbsessions vol iii}
this is all mixed, mastered and being manufactured at the moment... it's all brand new material from alex paterson and thomas fehlmann, it'll be released on july 6th and here's a slice of the press release: "... the good Doctor sets the controls beyond any Earthly confines and gets down to stratospheric sound painting and advanced sonic science, sprinkled with an avant garde disregard for conventional structures. These startling electronic odysseys are hatched with long-time collaborator Thomas Fehlmann, The Orb's Berlin connection who's been there from the first album and last made his towering presence felt on 2005's Okie Dokie album for the renowned Kompakt label, bastion of Berlin techno. Such is the case with Baghdad Batteries where the pair have injected some of these breathtaking outings with a subterranean house pulse beamed up from the Earth's core, resulting in a new form of space disco which sounds as old as time itself while brushed with the most future-pointed minimal techno shadows..."

BOB MEYER
bob's been getting some great feedback for the new album threefold return - here's a couple of reviews:
"Even Nick Drake would have been proud of the sense of ominous portent Bob Meyer creates on this acoustic offering.
A simplistic description of Threefold Return would be miserabilist. These, most certainly aren`t songs of joy designed to electrify. But there is something about their metronomicdesperation that is soothing;it seems to capture the fleeting essence of life and somehow wallow in this evanscene.
A South Londoner and a late starter (either of which might have terminated the ambition of lesser men) along with the former trucker who plays upsidedown a la Hendrix this is Meyer`s 2nd release. It is though, anything but immature.
As Meyer sings his monochromal melodies and strums-definitely strums- in rudimentary support, without any further adornment, he conjures the sense of a life drifting past, tragedies endured and opportunities missed. Flowingfrom this comes the realization that in such moments that life is definedand without which the rest of our mortal muppet show would belittle more than a superficial act.
For fear of projecting some deep personal existentialdoubt, to my untrained ear - gentle, uncomplicated and austere as it is - Threefold Return is intensely profound."
8/10 - Jonathan Blackstaffe, Blues in Britain

"Bob is getting better and better, Threefold Return has manifold rewards. This is a hypnotic slow burner that demands repeated listening. In a world where the manufactured myth of Seasick Steve is sadly deemed authentic, Bob speaks of deeper truths than mere plastic materialism and is touched by the left hand of God. This is the real 21st century blues - urban, dystopic, funky and funny. Accept ye not false gods and listen to Meyer the Mind Cleaner instead."
5/5 - Josh de Cruz, the malicious website
