I feel lucky Brenden, I didn't grow up in a religious family and was never forced into that crap (although I'd been to Catholic, Protestant, and fundamentalist churches w/friends when younger and never could figure out how they put up w/that stuff).

Yeah it’s all meekness and secret blessings and nothing to do with CHOOSE ME OR CHOOSE ETERNAL FLAME.
 
I went on a Christian camp once, and was so disturbed by the leaflets they handed out, little comic strips of normal kids doing ‘bad’ things and Satan popping up and damning them to hell etc that I had nightmares, fell off a top bunk, got concussion (I didn’t wake up) and dislocated my shoulder. Kinda funny in a way, but regardless of the fall and injury, I was *extremely* disturbed at the time, because I was a very credulous and earnest kid. The physical injury and headaches correlated with the message in my mind and I figured I must have something awful to get such a message.
 
Anyway, the whole message on camp was one of damnation, and I got the same lesson at school and in church and at home. I’m not dumb, I saw right through to the guts of the message very early on, and it was explicitly taught that way as well.
 
I might dislike certain faiths etc, including Christianity, but I draw the line at telling anyone they are going to burn for the rest of eternity. Especially just by virtue of being born. That’s insane and manipulative, and who knows how many lives have been ruined by it.

greg in all my posts where have i used the term religion which actually means continous practice of something ..i'm talking about true christianity exactly as jesus taught ...if someone is cold give them your coat ..if someone slaps you offer the other cheek ...be kind and compassionate to others ..give in secret just as jehovah blesses you in secret

SOme of the problems I have w/religion:
Although it may offer some good advice on how to live our lives, it 
1. Doesn't update it's teachings (it's the holy book and nothing else)
2. tends to interpret the holy book in question in a mechanical way (fundamentalists)
3. is deterministic (god will decide everything, so don't try to change the way things are)

If you want to preach the word of Jesus, jefuckinhoover or whatever else, do it in the appropiate place mate.

such petulance and there is no escape from jehovah's wrath which is understandable aftrer witnessing mankinds bloodshed of his fellow man for 2 thousand years since jesus came to show us how to live ..in fact it makes me laugh how you think you can defy and even threaten the creator of the universe and all the good things in it for our benefit ..what a loving and benevolent deity ..plenty of examples in the bible of what happens to humans who defy jehovah

hhhmmm brendan your arguement is flawed in that it shows you have not studied the bible or you would know what i mean about bible wisdom even down to the wisdom about doing things in moderation whethrer it be eating or exercising..have a go at the book proverbs ..and then see how you feel ..i am not familiar with nietzsche andregarding the killing joke lyric that also shows jaz's ignorance of bible teaching as none of us will get back what is in this world as it is going to be destroyed to make way for jehovah's kingdom '' man has stumbled around like a demented child king long enough'' ..recognise that quote ?...although i believe i have a good command of the english language i either have forgotten or in fact don't know what an oxymoron is ....christendom is definitly NOT what christianity is all about but in fact man's own perverted version of it just as jesus said would happen when he left but jehovah in his patience and wisdom has given mankind time to turn back to him but know's man's sinful nature will prevent him ...so he will establish HIS kingdom to save mankind from itself

No, actually, that’s not what Christianity is all about at all, and ‘Bible Wisdom’ is an oxymoron.
 
As Nietzsche pointed out, it’s all about taking the centre of gravity out of the here and now and putting it into some myth of Heaven and Hell.

PS: Christianity perverts sexuality more than homosexuality. The Pope is against effective birth control for starving AIDS-ridden Africans. And the catholic church (amongst others) is under assault from all the cases of priests’ kiddie fiddling. You couldn’t find an organisation where it was more institutionalised.

if you are genuinely talking about the weather ..i'd say this unnaturally warm for this time of year is a lull before the storm which may or may not herald a heatwave or a washout of a summer like last year with a pleasant autumn as consolation prize

what utter bollocks brendan ..it's stupid statements like that that enforces stereotyping of women and men and teaches a distorted view of sex which is not just for recreation but the procreation of life ..it makes both men and women feel inadequate and enforces false body image in other words porn perverts the act of making love and destoys relationships
