Well, this got you going! ;)
"However banning sports (TAG? TAG!) from schools is ridiculous!"

You are taking Carlin at his word, I assume? Which school was this?
Come on, man, that is a comic's sword.....logical exaggeration. How would he know this? His daughter from his first marriage has some thoughts about him.....I don't think he has any others.
"They have to learn and understand life lessons."

Yes, like when they soil their diapers after a certain age they need to use a toilet, when they crawl, they tenatively stand at times yet hit the floor again; it is in the DNA that practice makes perfect. No need to scream PHAIL when one does not do something well the first time.

"One of them is you don't always win. We all fail/lose at times and shouldbe taught how to deal with it."

Like with the international bailout right now? How would you justify this to a politically precocious child? They would think you were "lying" since losing isn't so horrendous to those who have the assets.

"Besides it teaches the child how to reach for higher goals"

Sure, kids need to get energy out of their system. Huzzah.
"I was always a short and thin child (Now I'm a short and thin adult). Not the most athletic."

I appreciate your personal anecdote, and I am sure kids would get alot out of it if you told it to them, but a single anecdote is just that: it cannot be applied on a larger, global level. You cannot extrapolate your experience to what others have been through. "To coddle a child and over protect a child is not a good idea. Nor is it a good idea to take away the rights from other childrenwho choose to be active in sports and enjoy them."

I never advocated this at all.

"They were never told no and never told that they weren't the greatest."

Nah, they were rich kids ignored by their parents who sought to silence them with nice things."When they get older they WILL have massive issues of dealing with failure and letdowns especially when they don't have a crutch to lean on."

Yeah, one is running a bank with his father. Just a blip to them. No massive feelings of failure. "Failure" is internalized fear designed to socialize the working class to their lot (that 99% of humanity). Who runs all those "phail" blogs? Wealthy chaps?

"Think of your immune system... It actually needs to be exposed to sickness in order to learn how to build upcombat and protect itself when your body gets infected."

"Out of the virus immunity comes".....lol......that is a favorite line of mine. But again, we are talking about your stance. I would prefer innoculation against the toxin. I would prefer the medical community to be cooperative in their approach to disease. "No one mentioned "Toddler Survivor""

Dude, that was total tongue in cheek. There is no such show. However, I saw a "candid camera" like segment when the show was popular......almost every parent gave these "producers" permission for horrific "Lord of the Flies" type of behavior involving their child. Guess they needed to be toughened up ;)"And anger... Well I hate to break it to you but black/dark humor has always been aroundespoused and eschewed by many. Could it be that his anger is at really stupid shit that he'd seen being promoted?(Wonder what you think of Lewis Black... LOL!)"

Lewis Black is a putz, read about the life of Carlin, especially his early years (Sullivan) and maybe you might get a different perspective.

Anger? I prefer it straight on tap. Mr Bill Hicks "Rant in E Minor".......

"Though I must admit, "Dillinger" is a real cool kick ass name!"
I'll give ya a spin in my '34 Essex.Bette

To the Esteemed Mr. Arse:
You're still a saint compared to my dad!
It sorta scares the shit out of me how all these schools and educators
are trying to eliminate competitive sports and even go the extremes of
banning tag, and LEGO... yes even LEGO.
George Carlin (rip), on his last HBO stand up went on about this.
"Grade school, where he won't be allowed to play tag because it promotes victimization... Standing around is still permitted, but it won't be for long. because sooner or later some kid is gonna be standing around, and his foot will fall asleep, and his parents will sue the school, and it's fucking good-bye fucking standing around." -George Carlin
"You know what they tell the kid who lost these days? 'You were the last winner.' A lot of kinds never get to hear the truth about themselves until they're in their twenties, when their boss calls them in and says, Bobby, clean the shit out of your desk and get the fuck out of here, you're a loser."-George Carlin

So, if we all lose, we will all be winners in the end? Because we'll all be happy and catered for and that, to me sounds like winning.
So if we're all winners by losing we all become takers by default.
Can you see where this is going??
On my desk is a badge my son made for me when he was 5. It says "you are a winner".
What he's actually saying is "you're a loser Dad".
That's his pocket money stopped then........!

Anyway, if something else big does happen in Nov then I'm gonna stop
reading the financial papers and start taking shrooms. Probably a good
life plan regardless ;)
