Hardly think a mismanaged bank going bust equates to Hiroshima, fall of Roman Empire etc, lol.

Even McKenna basing the theory on the King Wen sequence of the Yi Jing, as opposed to any other sequence, seems a bit arbitrary. As Damon my 14 yr old son says, 'It's all mathematical bollocks'. There you are, true words of wisdom.

Maybe the novelty is HBOS going bust! I read a bit about this a while back and although I must admit to not totally understanding it, I read one critic who said that it all depends on where you start the maths at, ie, what date you start the calculation. In other words, like with Nostradamus, you can arguably map pretty much any big event onto the equation. Apparently McKenna himself changed the end date rather randomly once he realised it would basically look better if he chose the 2012 date when the Mayan calendar runs out, rather than another date earlier in that same year. 

On the other hand, maybe it's all true and valid, and it's just me that's wrong.
