[kj] support bands good or bad?

That's really amusing.....because as I was reading your post I kept saying "why hasn't he mentioned the VERVE?????" Holy shit, Batman, I would be out of my gourd (more than usual) to see that bill!

Off topic about the Verve, maybe the musos on here can help me. I see SO much "fundamentalist Christian" stuff about the Verve now. Just check out the comments under an old song on metube. Like I got into this fight with this NC band about how the song "Blue", which we both were going to cover, and I felt it had NOTHING to do with religion or Jebus or anything of that nature. They shook their head and said I was far from the flock. This NC band assured me that "A Storm in Heaven" is ALL about the Bible. WTF? They even had shit like "well, this is a line from the gospel of Richard Ashcroft".....I did get some of his stuff right after their breakup and he sounded much different, but still, I don't see this appropriation as valid at all.

Best support slots as far as I am concerned for KJ had to have been (although I am very biased) The Chameleons (Altho the Joke soon pissed them off from touring with them) & Cocteau Twins (Brixton Academy)...I did like Skunk Anansie opening for KJ too.

I think its difficult finding suitable opening bands for KJ to be honest, to my ears though I think The Chameleons were a perfect choice (more harmoneous, but same tension and angst), would have thought that Kitchens Of Distinction would have been a good opener too for the Joke, and possibly even at least in the early days The Verve, or as they were better known back then Verve.
