To really weigh that up I think you need to also have stats on incomes,
interest rates, house prices etc. Housing affordability in NZ has gone
from 40% in about 2002 to in some cases over 100%, averaging over 80%.
Expessed as the % average take-home pay required to service the average
mortgage, assuming a 20% deposit I think.
Meaning the housing market is in for a nasty fall over the next few years
(we've just started in the last 6 months), as is the UK from what I've
read. The US is already in the middle of a nasty price fall in a lot of
areas.
