I don't assume that.

But I'm also talking about a scene where merchandise explicitly
referring to the d-beat is common, like:

I think it's dumb and would never buy that stuff, but it exists.

Before I learned that the certain thrashy, fast tempo style of drumming
I associate with hardcore punk was divided into d-beat and other kinds
of fast beats (doubled timed 4/4 or something, I dunno), I used to think
Minor Threat had pushed it front and center (not Discharge) since most
of MT's output uses what to my younger ears at one time sounded like the
same drum pattern, over and over.
