Thanks for that post. I'm a huge Orwell fan. Too bad the right has 
appropriated so much of him (in their leftist = secret Stalinist tropes) 
when Orwell actually fought in the Spanish Civil War in socialist 
militia unit against fascists.

One quote from Orwell that I have always liked very much:
