If it is not too personal, what level college and when?
I had to work 2 or 3 jobs when doing my degrees, but was lucky to also have 'some' income from music. Free music scenes don't pay that well, though. It still financially crucified me.
You're lucky, sir.

Let me tell you a bit about me.My sisters and I grew up with the support of one parent. My Mother, who went back to college at the age of 43 to gaina batter job after her divorce. We had no child support, were on welfare and frankly, not all that well to do. (Paid backevery cent of welfare we received as well). We live according to our means and managed to get by. Both my sistersworked hard, went to college had jobs and worked their way through. We were definitely in the low income bracket andat one point had food delivered from charities. But you know what... we worked hard and persevered.Best Wishes,MeAt 08:10 PM 6/4/2008, folk devil wrote:
Mr Me. As someone who works within US academia, an observation of mine would be that an American's education is greatly dependent on how affluent their family is, but yes, as you said, it is a capitalist society. This 'condition' is not limited to just the states, however. Scholarships are NOT that abundant, either. Many lower income children enter the army after school, just to gain 'skills'. So you have immensely educated people, as well as incredibly 'under-educated' people, with a huge gap inbetween.

The US does a damned fine job for it's people. Regarding public education, the amount of money spent is
crazy. It's just sad that the money given to the educators is wasted on shit like "taking kids to the grocery
to learn how to shop and interact with shopkeeps and shop workers". When the US has tough tests you
have the liberal loons crying and bitching that "the tests are to hard for the kids, we need to make it easier".
The poorly educated Americans are not due to a lack of effort. It's due to misguided individuals who fuck
everything up. (Oh yes, and also editing or removing Mark twain books because some things are "offensive")
Making college tests easier and allowing ppl. with lower scores access just for the sake of it... is pathetic.

Competition is a barbaric, insensitive ritual that reeks of social Darwinism. We cannot allow the fittest to survive on our pages. Your loss is someoneelse's gain, and your gain is someone else's loss. Therefore, losers contributeto the society and winners take away from it. Being a winner is unethical, whilea society of losers is happy and striving as a collective. In the spirit of diversity, inclusiveness, and collectivism our contests shall have no winners.Everyone is declared a loser, which in our book means an ethical team player.
