There's a recent (2000's?) of Jaz saying he's (and always was?) a fullblown manic-depressive.

... ... ... ... ... ...
(looking at the current state of things)

'Save me..
 save me from Tomorrow..
I don't want to sail in this Ship Of Fools...!'

Jaz is a really polarising fucker, I think he gives free rein to his emotions (positive and negative) when he speaks, doesn’t over-intellectualise or pass everything by the social censor, so to speak, hence he talks about the band’s massive fights and his murderous and suicidal thoughts etc, openly on camera. I suppose you either believe he’s being honest or that he’s a narcissistic twat who is trying to big-note himself and make himself out to be a modern day Crowley or whatever. As I said, I haven’t met him so I wouldn’t venture a comment, I do know I find him a) talented and b) entertaining as fuck.

I think the expectations for these guys must be huge, Gatherers are extremely loyal & demanding fans, and with Killing Joke’s history to live up to…there must be a huge amount of tension to perform. They’ll be aware that what they do with this tour will be keenly noted by their fans and critics. And I reckon a lot of fans will be on edge too, because no one wants to see a train wreck a la Metallica happen to Killing Joke. Dog forbid.

On a tangent, I may be wrong but I believe that there’s an observation in psychology that the intensity of emotion of one sort can be transferred into other, even opposite emotions (i.e. your love / hate comment). As in angry sex…or getting to the point of such frustration or boredom that you end up laughing uncontrollably (perhaps that’s a me thing?). Anyway, the reason I mention it, is that with the expectation to perform to the same level, an estranged relationship of almost two decades, the passing of a band member etc, there will be a fair bit of tension, and that could go in any direction, positive or negative. Mathematics of Chaos kinda stuff. Which I find really exciting in terms of what they can do with that energy, in a positive sense.

I wonder if they want to wrap up the doco before this new stage begins or what? Lots of questions.

Fuck I’m supposed to be studying! J

You know, it is a thin line between love and hate.  I guess that is the bottom line.  So, keeping up with this band and then seeing these clips, well, of course everyone can see it got me upset.  But we wouldn't be debating shite bands, ya know?  Simon LeBON is such a drama queen! LOL

Anyhoo, this band will always be in my top three for inspiration.  So if it is the Jaz Coleman show, so be it.  Like I said, I will still watch it.  I can't imagine the excitement of being in the UK  at the time they were really active, cause even I romanticized it across the pond years later.  I guess that is why I was feeling resentment.  I want the KJ with BPF back in full effect.  That was really all I wanted to say.

In all honesty I don’t know enough about the band or the band members individually to defend or vilify them, so I’ll reserve my comments on that. Except to say that I didn’t get that impression about Jaz’s comments about Raven.

I’m really looking forward to the movie regardless of its focus. In terms of whether it’s going to be the Jaz Coleman Sideshow or more about Killing Joke, for starters it’s not finished, we’ve only seen snippets, also we’ve seen plenty of clips of people talking about the band, including the band members, other musicians (Page), Gatherers, and music industry people. I’m also not sure if it’s a pure doco, if you watch The Year of the Devil (it’s up on YouTube) and also Jaz’s comments about getting real people to ‘play’ parts etc, then I get the impression that it’s part movie / part doco, and for the viewer to decide how much to believe. Which I can dig. That’s the idea with Gnosticism I suppose, you take what’s useful to you and discard what’s not, and learn through experience. I think people were a bit freaked out by Jaz’s sermon, but I get the impression that’s either part of the movie, or him getting up there and
letting his dark side or shadow have a vent…? Dunno really, that’s part of the fun I suppose.

I’m interested (and entertained) by Jaz’s ideas and philosophies, but yeah I’m also keen to hear more from the other band members about the same as it’s a common and unifying thread, so I agree, I hope there’s room given to the other band members to discuss their ideas. I was sucked into KJ by Pandemonium, partly by the lyrical content of songs like Exorcism, Communion, Labyrinth, Mathetmatics of Chaos etc, so anything any of them have to talk about in terms of philosophy, the nature of life, the universe and everything…I’m keen to hear. It’s a rare band that has something interesting to say.

Anyways, I’m looking forward to the DVD coming out, and if I can fangle coming over to the UK to see them I’ll be stoked, if not then I’ll be putting a hex on the assholes responsible for stopping me.

Sure, Mr Coleman is the most verbose and manically narcissistic of the band.  He is "spoken about" the most because he has made the most public attempts to garner attention towards himself.

Didn't he attempt to make a solo album and it had to be at the last minute altered to an infamously bad Killing Joke album?  I rest my case.

However, his lyrical ability has touched my heart.  Can't deny it.  Ironically, I recommend KJ to more people than any other band, period.  I told a local rapper that he had to listen to KJ when he was writing a song called "Gods and Queens ".  He really liked them.

My point, though, is that the movie is not called "Jaz The Spazz"......the movie is supposed to be about Killing Joke.

And, yes, I would watch this movie and anything with Jaz Coleman.  But I am angered this is being promoted when a very important tour is coming up.

My heart and mind is on the side of team Killing Joke, not just Mr Coleman, period.

When Mr Coleman said that Raven had been complaining about chest pain for months before his death, and Mr Coleman said nothing about recommending a doctor to him, it told me all I needed to know.  I did not find that funny, did you?

Oh come on, any way you look at it Jaz is the most entertaining motherfucker. Whether you find him a bit spinal tap, whatever, at least he has the decency to laugh after his huge statements. And who do we spend more time talking about on the list than anyone else…? (Except Bush ;)

I’ve shown the various Jaz interviews to a few people, no one has failed to be at the very least entertained. My little brother’s favourite Jaz bit is how he squeezes out those lines at the beginning of Asteroid (“And the third angel sounded, and a star fell from heaven…”). He reckons it sounds like a drunk guy taking a shit. Have to say that cracked me up…even though that song’s one of my favourites J

I am just wondering how the hell these guys are practicing for this tour.....I mean, if this mockumentary is mostly the "Jaz show" put it on hold as well as any "previews", film the reunion, then the Jaz man can go psycho again about Jimmy Page being his long lost brother all he wants in this "Death and Resurrection Show".
