I experience it a lot too. There's lots of spooky stories (if that's what
you want) but I think that it's fairly normal if your mind and body aren't
working in sinc ie, your mind wakes up faster than your body. The
'mystical' occurances, so-to-speak are when you are conscious and still
dreaming/ meditating and are waiting for your bod to catch up.
I love that.
These days it's mostly simulated because I am paralysed when I wake up as
the dogs sleep on me, mainly my legs - nearly 20 stone of dogs and my
circulation goes. My body can't move to rectify the situation so I'll dream
myself awake so that I can tell them to get off. By the time that I've
ordered them to move, my body's caught up and is able to move.
D H Lawrence has a sweet little say on the situation in his Phantasia of the
Un (Sub?) Consciousness. Your subconscious mind comes up with some real
trips to get you moving when your body is to flat out for it's own good. Mr
Lawrence relates to wind and heart stress triggering vivid dreaming to
stimulate physical action. Wind - me?

Who remembers those feelings of being too big or small for your bed dreams?
