[kj] the essence

Tool prostrate themselves before King Crimson for some reason, will have to
give them a listen...think they toured or gigged with them at one point.

Heh. Yes, I'd rather listen to Queen than Dylan. Actually, I'd rather have
chillis rubbed into my eyes than listen to Dylan. Saw the fucker live once,
completely unintentionally I might add, and lost at least 10 years of my
life.

Have just listened to "Fight From The Inside", and although there's some
interesting riffage, I suppose those bluesy runs are a little too much for
me. Don't like more than about 6 Zep tracks either. And they're not all ones
Jaz massacred.

However, I have to hold my hand up to liking King Crimson enormously (at the
very least, "Red" and "Thrak" should be owned by EVERYONE), so that
immediately depth-charges any credibility I might have had.

Well, I'm not going to get all red in the face attempting to defend
Queen here. Much like their US counterparts in Kiss, I heard them
before I ever layed ears on anything even remotely punk. Queen were
DELIBERATE in their pomp-rock ridiculousness, but at least they
didn't take themselves so dreadfully seriously (i.e. those gents in
E.L.P, Yes, etc.) And, they made some absolutely fantastic music
along the way. Sure, "Bicycle Race" is vaudevillian nonsense, but
listen to "Sheer Heart Attack," "The Prophet's Song," "Fight From The
Inside," "Stone Cold Crazy" -- they wrote some great stuff.

No matter what, they're far better than Bob fucking Dylan.
