Nor mine, either (I blogged just a short post to explain to my
family/friends why I'll be in my basement in a funk for a few days). But
Alex, that's a nice post -- and "Feast of Blaze" has long been my
favorite Fire Dances track.

I had a long weekend followed by a load of work and only checked
Gathering messages at end of day yesterday. Hoping it was a bad joke,
followed by shock as all the "subject" lines piled into my inbox.
F*cking f*ck. Can't believe it. Went home, shed some tears, blasted the
XXV Gathering DVD over a few drinks and then banged the crap out of my
drums along to Fire Dances.

I am grateful that his bass sounded so clear on the XXV recording. I
take solace that I'll always have memories and that DVD to watch his
facial expressions and playing until the reaper takes me, too. Last
night, while watching that concert and its closeups of Raven, I in equal
amounts shed tears and burst out in laughing appreciation of what a
funny, vibrant man he was.

R.I.P., r a v e n. You are sorely missed.
