[kj] OT: worst lyrics awards

Discussing / arguing / disagreeing about music, and taking it so
seriously, is quite funny when you look at it. My old man is a Buddy Holly
fan and my Mum prefers Elvis. The old man is always going on about how
much better BH was, especially considering he died at 22 or whatever it
was...

I wonder if the bands we're talking about will be viewed like that one
day? Old black and white boring run of the mill crap for fossils...

Suppose when you consider that Hendrix was around 40 years ago...(from
memory he 'hit the big time' around 67) maybe some of these bands will
achieve some sort of longevity...

PS: Where are Whitesnake from, they aren't LA 'metal' by any chance? I
gather they used to have some decent rock cred in the early days, when
they were kind of bluesy? The stuff I got into, 'Here I go again' era
stuff, really grew boring quickly. There's actually one song on Coverdale
/ Page I can listen to, Over Now, otherwise I thought it sucked. I grew
out of Whitesnake when I was 15. Far prefer Gillam era Deep Purple too. To
me Coverdale is another one with the raw vocal talent around the level of
Tyler / Plant / Cornell / Mercury, whose songwriting didn't live up to the
talent.
