Absolutely.

It's interesting that both Jane's Addiction and Guns n' Roses both rose 
through the LA club scene at the same time but there was a ocean of 
differences between the two bands in almost every sense in much the same way 
there's a vast difference between Led Zeppelin (JA) and The Rolling Stones 
(GnR).

While I thought Guns n' Roses *did* deserve much of the accolades once they 
released "Appetite for Destruction," Jane's was a far more interesting and 
original band both from a strictly musical standpoint as well as the 
personalities and viewpoints they offered.  Obviously, Jane's did borrow 
heavily from bands like Led Zep, but they also took inspiration from other 
bands as diverse as The Velvet Underground and Bauhaus to many of the LA 
punk bands like X. GnR's influences were more single minded straight ahead 
rock n' roll like The Stones, AC/DC and Aerosmith.

I wouldn't really call Jane's Addiction a "glam band." Jane's opted for a 
far more bizarre hodgepodge of visual influences and their music certainly 
didn't come from a Hanoi Rocks/New York Dolls style of influence like Guns 
n' Roses initially did.
