Yeah that sounds right. I remember reading the story of a cop who was
attacked with a knife, he responded by attacking the assailant with his
baton, but he struck the leg, which is what he had practiced over and over
in training (obviously to the point that it became a reflex...) and got
killed. Must have been practicing crowd control or something.

as a coach who trains fighters we disagree with the saying that in
crisis that you rise to the occasion. You tend to fall to the level of
your training.
He reacted to his training, but as you say his honestesty is brutal.
