It's funny that earlier this winter (and last winter come to think of it) the UK media tabliods had "KILLER BLIZZARD ON THE WAY" headlines ... and nothing ever came of it ... apart from a few cold days and a dusting of snow ... not in my lifetime have we really had a prolongued period of disruption down south through snow ... 1962 into 1963 was a bad one, allegedly (several months of football postponements !!!) ... since the earth is estimated to be over 4 billion years old, it is likely there have been endless cycles of warming and cooling throughout history ... what with stories of ice ages and floods ... but when you see the melting of the arctic glaciers, you do sense something is happening rather rapidly ... quite how long it would take for low-lying UK coastal areas to go under, who knows ... but when it happens a few f*ck*ng sandbags are unlikely to help much ... and nor will i-Pods, huge widescreen TVs, 4x4s, Sat-Nav, etc etc etc ... EXTREMITIES !!!!!

PS. Was it not slightly ironic the other day with the "big storm" where the Birmingham airport manager died after his 4x4 BMW was stuck by large branch en route to work ... of all the ways he may have feared going to an early grave, being hit by a branch in his 4x4 was probably not near the top of his list ...
