Lol - it's true. When I was at school I remember all the 'punks'
were engaged in a constant fight about who was punk and who
wasn't - who had the 'right' hair, who used to be a proper punk but
now wasn't because they'd been caught listening to the 'wrong'
band, why some bands had been punk but now weren't anymore
because they'd broken some mysterious rule... ah, good times!

No, because if you examine the very term, "post-Punk," it's a  
significantly broader term (i.e., that which came after punk, using  
punk as a catalyst). But when you get into all the frantic hair- 
splitting you so love (that which is and which is not "hardcore" yet  
may also be punk but not metal), it's all a bit like "The Sneetches"  
by Dr.Seuss.

Give these bands the freedom to be whatever they want to be before  
you shove them into some claustrophobic little box.
