[kj] Favourite songs from my top ten albums

"On the other hand, "Nighttime" doesn't really have anything wrong with it--it's just that the songwriting puts me to sleep."

Fair enough. To each their own. As it happens, most of PANDEMONIUM struggles to maintain my attention.

And the metal crunch in evidence on PANDE *does* hamper my enthusiasm. It works in spots (notably "Exorcism") but it gets a bit samey to these ears after a while.

It's still a great record, just not one of their best, in my opinion.

I don't understand why people hate Pandemonium so much. (I rated it #1). Some of the songs may be long and stagnant (Communion, Exorcism), but it has a powerful sound, catchy songs, and great performances. Do people hate it because of the cruncy metal sound? I'm no metal fan (don't own any metal albums or listen to any bands), but it works on some of the tracks! On the other hand, "Nighttime" doesn't really have anything wrong with it--it's just that the songwriting puts me to sleep.

Yes, Pandemonium seems to have taken a dive in peoples ratings. It was
revered on it's release, but people seem to have gone off it. The marks
people gave it on the recent best album thread were quite interesting
,people either rated it very highly or very lowly, there was nt much middle
ground, I assume that the people who rated it highly are the ones who have
yet to go off it.
Here are the individual ratings for Pandemonium, from Gatherers:
2,8,3,7,2,3,8,9,10,2,2,10,4,5,3,5,1,2,2,9,7,4,3,5,7,.
As you can see , Pandemonium is either highly or lowly rated, not much
middle ground, whilst other albums ratings were more across the board.
   P.W.

Even if "Eighties" -- stinker or not --- had been left off of NIGHT
TIME (like "A New Day" inexplicably was), I think I'd still rate NIGHT
TIME at the top. The songs are just better. They sound complete. The
same cannot be said for much of the PANDE album.
